Minden Rotary in ACTION
Haliburton-Muskoka-Kawartha Children's Water Festival. is an educational initiative supported by Minden Rotary. Approximately 1000 elementary students from the Trillium Lakelands District School (TLDSB) came and “got their hands wet” as they learned about one of our most valuable resources, water.
Therapeutic riding uses horses for the purpose of providing physical, emotional, social and cognitive support to people with a disability. Minden Rotary supports Walkabout Farm, a fully inclusive therapeutic riding, equine assisted learning and youth outreach initiative designated for children and adults with unique considerations, socioeconomic isolation, mental health concerns and those that are abled differently.
Minden Food Centre
Minden Rotary has proudly supported the development of the Community Gardens at the Minden Fairgrounds and the Garden Storage Shed.
Fuel for Warmth is a program offered by the Minden Community Food Centre that has been supported by Minden Rotary. It is inconceivable that families go cold in our community in this day and age, but it happens. This excellent program goes a long way toward eradicating this need.
In recognition of the important role The Minden Food Bank has in our community it has always been a major recipient of support. One of the meaningful programs is the Christmas Hampers which brings Christmas to families that may otherwise be unable to enjoy. No child in our community should go without a gift or go hungry at this special time of year.
As part of the community, Rotary provides support in many ways. Contributing a float to the annual Minden Santa Clause Parade accompanied by dancing Rotarian is one way of giving to the children (young and young at heart) a little seasonal joy.
Vaccination Clinic
The single largest contribution to the community over 2020 - 2022 was Minden Rotary's staffing the vaccination clinics. This required the recruitment, training and support for several volunteers each day the clinic was open, for three to four days per week, which enabled our health care workers to vaccinate as many as 300-500 people per day. The community response to the call for volunteers was been typical Minden - Unbelievable! THANK YOU MINDEN for your support!
